On June 22, 2018, the CPB (Centraal Planbureau, Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis) hosted the third international conference of councils on economic policy in The Hague. It included participants from the councils of Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany Greece, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain,the United Kingdom, as well as the European Fiscal Board.
Professor Christoph M. Schmidt, Professorin Isabel Schnabel, Professor Lars P. Feld, Professor Peter Bofinger and Dr. Wolf Heinrich Reuter discussed with their colleagues among others, topics related to productivity, competitiveness and convergence, as well as the necessary reform to prepare for a possible next downturn or crisis.
Throughout the last years, the GCEE has intensified its outreach to researchers and institutions abroad to foster communication and cooperation regarding issues of economic policy. To provide a platform for this international exchange, the GCEE initiated the first international conference of councils on economic policy in Berlin in June 2016. In June 2017, the second edition of the international conference was hosted by AIReF (Autoridad Independiente de Responsabilidad Fiscal) in Madrid.
