Philipp Hauber joined the scientifc staff of the GCEE in March 2025 as a macroeconomist. Previously, he was an economist at the consultancy Oxford Economics and the Forecasting Center of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW Kiel). In addition, he worked as a data scientist for the British newspaper The Economist, forecasting elections in the United States and Germany. He studied economics at the University of Cologne, the Universidad de Buenos Aires and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona and received his PhD in 2022 with a dissertation on the Bayesian estimation of state space models and short-term forecasts of macroeconomic activity (“nowcasting”) using factor models.
