In response to the coronavirus crisis, the European Union established the Recovery and Resilience Facility which provides financial resources to its member states. Germany receives funds of around 25 billion Euros, for which it has to submit a plan for the planned investments and reform projects.
The German Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) focusses on addressing climate change and the digital transformation - with, for example, measures for decarbonisation through renewable hydrogen to climate-friendly mobility and climate-friendly buildings, as well as for the digitalisation of the economy and education.
As National Productivity Board, the GCEE was invited by the German Federal Government to comment on the draft of the German RRP and examine the proposed measures. The GCEE’s statement can be found in the published German Recovery and Resilience Plan starting on page 1225 (in German).
