Today, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Peter Altmaier, appointed Professor Volker Wieland, Ph.D., for another term to the German Council of Economic Experts. The term runs until February 2023.

On May 4, Isabel Schnabel received the prize of the Monetary Workshop (“Monetärer Workshop”) in Frankfurt. The award recognizes her achievements in “financial markets theory and banking regulation as well as her analyses of systemic financial crises”.

Effective 1 May 2018, Dr. Wolf Heinrich Reuter was appointed as new secretary general to the German Council of Economic Experts. He succeeds Dr. Jochen Andritzky who served as secretary general since June 2015.

The German Council of Economic Experts (GCEE) has slightly revised upwards its growth forecast for 2018 and now expects real gross domestic product (GDP) to grow by 2.3 % in 2018 and 1.8 % in 2019.
