The members of the German Council of Economic Experts have appointed Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Monika Schnitzer as their new chair with immediate effect. For the first time, a woman holds the chair of the GCEE. In accordance with the law, she is elected for a period of three years.
Monika Schnitzer is professor of comparative economics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (LMU). She has been a member of the GCEE since April 2020. Her research focuses on innovation, competition and multinational corporations.
