The German Council of Economic Experts has appointed Dr. Niklas Garnadt as Secretary General with effect on 1 May 2022. He succeeds Dr. Wolf Heinrich Reuter who joined the Federal Ministry of Finance as Director General for Economic and fiscal policy strategy on 1 April 2022.
Niklas Garnadt has joined the scientific staff of the German Council of Economic Experts in April 2019 as economist for macroeconomics. He has been Deputy Secretary General since April 2021. He received his doctorate in 2020 from the University of Mannheim, where he worked as a research assistant until 2019. His focus in research and in economic policy consulting, he is particularly concerned with the topic areas of productivity and climate policy and their macroeconomic implications.
