Prof. Dr. Dr. Ulrike Malmendier and Prof. Dr. Martin Werding are new members of the German Council of Economic Experts. They received their certificate of appointment from the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Dr. Robert Habeck today.
Ulrike Malmendier, Edward J. and Mollie Arnold Professor at the University of California at Berkeley and Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics and Professor of Finance at the Haas School of Business, has been appointed for the term until 28. February 2026
The term of Martin Werding, Professor of Social Policy and Public Finance at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Ruhr University Bochum, will continue until 28. February 2023.

The new council members succeed Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Lars P. Feld and Prof. Volker Wieland, Ph.D. Lars P. Feld's term of office ended on 28 February 2021 and Volker Wieland resigned as a member of the GCEE on 30 April 2022.
