Milena Schwarz is Deputy Secretary General of the German Council of Economic Experts and Head of Unit on the scientific staff. She joined the GCEE's scientific staff as a Senior Economist for Industrial Policy in July 2023. She studied economics at the University of Kassel and NHL Stenden, Leeuwarden (NL) and afterwards worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Corporate Finance at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and the Chair of Banking & Finance at Justus Liebig University Giessen. Her doctoral thesis dealt with gender-specific differences in financial education. She also worked as a consultant for financial markets on the scientific staff of the GCEE and as a senior economist for climate policy and sustainable finance at KfW Group. Her research focus is applied microeconomics.
