Since January 2025, Christian Ochsner is Secretary General of the German Council of Economic Experts. He joined the scientific staff of the GCEE as economist in July 2022 and headed the Macroeconomics team from September to December 2024. Previously, he worked as a research associate in the Public Finance Division of the Deutsche Bundesbank and at the Chair of Empirical International Economics at the University of Göttingen. From 2012 to 2022, he studied philosophy, economics, political science, and history at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, the Universitat de Barcelona, and the Universiteit Gent. He received his PhD in 2022 with a dissertation on business cycle forecasting and global financial markets. His research focuses on empirical macroeconomics.
