Prof. Dr. Veronika Grimm
Veronika Grimm is member of the German Council of Economic Experts since April 2020. She is professor at the Technical University of Nuremberg (UTN) and head of the Energy Systems and Market Design Lab. From 2008 to 2024, she was professor of economics and Head of the Chair of Economic Theory at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg.
Her research focuses on energy markets and energy market modelling, behavioral economics, social networks, as well as topics in auctions and market design. At Energie Campus Nuremberg she is heading the research unit “Energy Market Design”.
Veronika Grimm is active in numerous committees and advisory boards, including the National Hydrogen Council, the Scientific Advisory Board at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the Expert Commission on the "Energy of the Future" monitoring process at the BMWK, the “Future Circle” of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the German Advisory Council on Consumer Affairs at BMJV and the Energy Steering Panel of the European Academies' Science Advisory Council (EASAC).
After studying economics and sociology at the Universities of Hamburg and Kiel, she received her doctorate in economics with a thesis on topics in auction theory and mechanism design from Humboldt University at Berlin. Following that, Veronika Grimm held positions at University of Alicante and University of Cologne and worked as a researcher at the Free University in Brussels and the Catholic University at Louvain la Neuve.
