- New economic outlook to be published on 15 May 2024.
- New publication timeline for Annual Reports: still two economic outlooks per year, but in May and November from this year on. Unlike in the past, the economic outlook in spring will be expanded to include other chapters, while the number of chapters in autumn will be reduced.
This year, the German Council of Economic Experts will publish its updated economic outlook for 2024 and 2025 on 15 May 2024. For the first time, a chapter of the Annual Report will be published with the economic outlook in spring this year. The GCEE is thus taking the first step towards a new publication timeline. “We want to shift away from a very extensive publication in November. The range of topics covered in the Annual Report will remain the same, but they will now be spread over two publication dates,” explains Monika Schnitzer, chair of the GCEE. “The new structure will make it easier to react promptly to current issues during the course of the year and to draw more attention to individual topics.”
The transition is already underway: On 15 May 2024, a first chapter will be published together with the new economic outlook. From 2025, individual chapters will be published in spring together with the economic outlook. This will make the Annual Report in autumn more compact. However, the familiar format of a comprehensive Annual Report will be retained: The chapters published in spring will be printed together with the new chapters in the Annual Report for reporting purposes.
